Water Stains & Popcorn Ceilings
A water stain looks worse than it usually is. Depending on the damage, getting rid of that yellow ghost might be a lot less of a headache than you’d think.
Sealing the Stain
If it’s mostly the stain bugging you (that yellow ring on the ceiling, usually in the popcorn), we spray a quick coat of oil-based ProBlock right over it and seal it so it can’t bleed back through. Fast and genuinely cheap. You can even do it yourself: Sherwin-Williams sells it. Just walk in and ask for the spray can of oil ProBlock. If the damage runs deeper than the surface (soft to the touch, sagging, more than a stain), that’s patchwork, and here’s how we handle it. Patches →
Popcorn Ceilings
On popcorn ceilings: we paint them, but they have to be sprayed, never rolled. A roller drags across the texture and pulls it right off the ceiling, so spraying is the only way to coat popcorn without wrecking it. To spray it, we hang plastic all the way down the walls and cover the floor. The whole room gets sealed off so overspray never touches a thing. And since the walls are already masked top to bottom for that, that’s the moment to paint them too. The protection’s already built, the room’s already set up: doing the walls now costs you a fraction of what it costs to bring us back to mask the entire room a second time later.

I was only going to have my trim and doors painted and cut-in, but I was so impressed by their quality of work and price that I hired them to paint the entire interior of the house as well. They showed great attention to detail and their lines were razor sharp all throughout the house. They even went above and beyond and painted some spots my children left on the roof for an extremely reasonable price. They were on time, efficient and had all the materials they needed to get the job done. Alex and Megan came by on Tuesday and because began with on Wednesday. They moved my furniture all things that needed put away. They painted my fireplace, interior walls of living room, kitchen- dining area, and trim molding. They were through on one day, they did a great job.

Worked with me on a price that I could afford and what was the most business oriented respectful company I have ran across in my 40 years. I appreciate the Paint Doctors and I highly recommend anybody use them and you will never be ripped off like all these other companies that want to charge you per hour and day they can get everything you need done as soon as it is possible and do not come after you to try to take everything they can to take advantage of people in the woman who owns this company was such a sweet lady and I can’t wait to use them again. Arriving on time in delivering the estimate and delivering the work on time was refreshing. Though, being a smaller company they function like a much larger one as it pertains to their overall execution. I believe they are committed to delivering at the highest level. The painting was executed and completed on time with benchmarks being shared during the entire process. Our expectations were not met they were exceeded. The pricing was fair and they even offered a veterans discount! Without any hesitation whether a residential or commercial need arises they will be my painter of choice! I am having my 90 yr old house resided, and I asked Paint Doctors to paint the overhanging eves/soffit, paint the window trims, and the front porch before the siding installation. They spray-washed all surfaces to remove decades of grime and mold, they caulked all seams, and put on 2 coats of prime paint (Sherwin Williams). I am very pleased with the final product. I will reach out to the Paint Doctors when I need another major paint project done.
