What are we painting?
Trim
“Trim” is one word for a whole list of things: doors, crown, door frames, window frames, windows, sills, baseboards, shiplap, wainscoting, chair rail, and custom versions of all of it. Whatever yours is, and whether it’s latex, oil, or stain, we’ve got deep experience with all three. At the end of the day it comes down to prep: we caulk the cracks, fill the nail holes, cut out the old busted-out caulk, and sand before every coat.
Oil Under Latex
Here’s the one that bites people. We don’t just paint over oil-based trim. Put latex over oil and it’ll peel off with the smallest bump, and we fix that a lot. So we always check first. It’s rare on new homes but older homes are notorious for it, so have whoever’s painting check either way. The easy path is to just use oil again; the better path is to prime over it and topcoat with latex so you skip the smell. Either way, the check comes first. We don’t find out the hard way on your trim.
Old Wood Paneling
Old wood paneling? We handle that too, three ways:
✓Painting over itThe simple route: oil-based primer first (skip it and it yellows right through the paint), then two coats, sanding in between.
✓Staining itIt’s all about testing a scrap of the actual wood to nail the right color before we touch the real thing. See colors on your room →
✓Refreshing the sealerIf it’s solid and you just want it brought back to life, we do that too.
✓Changing a stain colorWe can usually go darker without sanding to bare wood, but going lighter means sanding all the way down to raw. There’s no shortcut around that one, and anyone who tells you different is about to trap the old color under the new.

I was only going to have my trim and doors painted and cut-in, but I was so impressed by their quality of work and price that I hired them to paint the entire interior of the house as well. They showed great attention to detail and their lines were razor sharp all throughout the house. They even went above and beyond and painted some spots my children left on the roof for an extremely reasonable price. They were on time, efficient and had all the materials they needed to get the job done. Alex and Megan came by on Tuesday and because began with on Wednesday. They moved my furniture all things that needed put away. They painted my fireplace, interior walls of living room, kitchen- dining area, and trim molding. They were through on one day, they did a great job.

Arriving on time in delivering the estimate and delivering the work on time was refreshing. Though, being a smaller company they function like a much larger one as it pertains to their overall execution. I believe they are committed to delivering at the highest level. The painting was executed and completed on time with benchmarks being shared during the entire process. Our expectations were not met they were exceeded. The pricing was fair and they even offered a veterans discount! Without any hesitation whether a residential or commercial need arises they will be my painter of choice! I am having my 90 yr old house resided, and I asked Paint Doctors to paint the overhanging eves/soffit, paint the window trims, and the front porch before the siding installation. They spray-washed all surfaces to remove decades of grime and mold, they caulked all seams, and put on 2 coats of prime paint (Sherwin Williams). I am very pleased with the final product. I will reach out to the Paint Doctors when I need another major paint project done.
